How would you define your collection? Describe the Khaki Surplus man.
High quality sportswear with a focus on casual pants and shirts. The Khaki Surplus man is 25-45 years old and value-conscious, but also invested in his image.
Which “must-have” item from your Spring/Summer 2013 collection will instantly update a man’s wardrobe?
The 109 pant in mint green. The fit is impeccable, developed through working with Italian design, and the color is in the wave of hip hues.
From where do you draw inspiration?
From tutto mondo! Globalization – making my annual jaunt around the world. New York, Milan, Shanghai, Tokyo, and not to mention Bayonne, these are all my ports of inspiration.
What do you consider to be the world’s best fashion city for men and why?
Tokyo because the Japanese are not afraid to innovate outside the box.
How do you personally stay up-to-date with fashion?
Reading, watching, and visiting. Firsthand exposure to the globe is invaluable.
How do you spend your nights in Las Vegas after a long show day?
Dining with the illustrious company I get to see here.
If you were not a designer or principal of this brand, what would you be doing?
I would be a pool hall hustler.
